Belfast City Council provides a range of important services that ensure the city functions smoothly on a day-to-day basis such as refuse collection, parks and recreational facilities. The Council is also involved in much more strategic work relating to the development of the city which is the remit of the Development Department. The Development Department take a proactive approach to the strategic development of Belfast City. Its main aim is to play a leading role in establishing Belfast as a Beacon City for social, economic, physical and cultural development. Belfast has experienced significant regeneration and growth in the last decade and Belfast City Council has contributed to this regeneration through specific projects including the Waterfront Hall, St George's Market, and the redevelopment of the Gasworks Estate. - Planning and Transport Officer
Responsible to the Planning and Transport Manager within the Development Department for the provision of support in regard to urban regeneration, economic development and planning and transport matters. Anne has several years experience working in a private sector planning consultancy in Belfast and London and has also worked in the voluntary sector as an Urban Regeneration Officer. She has a MSc in Town and Country Planning. Member of Component 2 and 5 working groups. - Keith Sutherland
- Unit Manager
Within the Development Department with responsibility for the co-ordination and delivery of policy and advice on planning and transport for the Council. Professional background in planning and regeneration projects primarily in a local authority context. Keith has direct experience in the development and delivery of mixed use development projects including contract negotiation and complementary environmental programmes. He is chairing the Network Management Team and is member of Component 3 and 4 working groups. - Sabine Kalke
- Urban and Regional planner
Sabine has several years experience in public sector planning as well as private sector planning consultancy in Berlin, Germany. Professional background in strategic planning, research and analysis, economic development and urban regeneration. She worked on a number of EU funded programmes. She is the Project Manager of the BERI project. - Brendan Graham
- BERI Project Administrator
Brendan helps Sabine with the day to day running of the BERI Project from organising meetings and events to financial issues and progress reports. Having a computers background Brendan also has responsibility for the maintenance and update of the BERI project website.
