Public Realm

Public RealmThe success of Brownfield regeneration is closely linked to the quality of its public realm as it is an important element of identification and recognition of the place. Public and private developers should have an obligation to provide public realm in their projects to contribute to an attractive and vital urban space. The sustainable usability of public realm is important to ensure continued use and access as an asset for a wider area.

The Public Realm seminars and workshops were facilitated by the Stockholm partner. Throughout the BERI project they have demonstrated strength in effectively delivering and maintaining a high level of public realm. Using the Hammarby Sjöstad site as a key example the Stockholm partner demonstrated how to incorporate a high level of public realm into the planning process.
